This is a salt-crystal chandelier. It’s part of the Saint Kinga’s Chapel in the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Every room, statue and decoration inside the mine and in the Chapel is carved out of the rock salt. The rock salt is grey and looks like granite.
The mine is located in southern Poland. The town of Wieliczka lies within the Kraków area. The mine is gigantic (327 m deep, over 287 km long). The Wieliczka Salt Mine is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A guided tour through the mine – or even better: a wedding in the Saint Kinga’s Chapel – is something you will remember.
