Family Problems
The graves of the most notorious members of the Plantagenêt family are buried at Royal Abbey of Our Lady of Fontevraud. King Henry II of England and his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine rest at last peaceful side by side. Their son King Richard was entombed at the end of the 12th century inside the Abbey as well. Isabella of Angoulême, the second wife of King John, was at first buried outside the Abbey. King Henry III ordered to move her body, so she could rest in peace inside the Abbey too. Therefore lies – but only in death – at last one woman side by side with Richard the Lionheart.
I ask myself, what did my daughter think, when she photographed me like that? I was resting in the inner yard of the dungeon of Loches without any intentions of being buried there!
